Nothing says holiday magic like a German Christmas Market in Munich. Generally thought of as the home of beer and pretzels as big as your head, Germany is also the birthplace of the traditional and festive Christmas Market concept. It is basically, a giant outdoor party/carnival that runs non-stop in the run up to Christmas.
Markets, markets everywhere
Munich Christmas Market is the “OG” Christmas Market of the city dating back to the 14th century. Full of unique gifts, Bavarian food and live music, this market has a little something for everyone. Held on the Marienplatz, this market is right in the heart of the city center.
Food and fire-punch
The “Sternenplatzl” at Rindermarkt brings the holiday spirit to life with the sights, sounds and smells of Christmas. This is the place for foodies. Sausages, wurst, flaming fire-punch, called feuerzangebowle. Bundle up, grab a traditional fried sausage and stroll the booths of the market to relive your childhood holiday memories.
Just try and be a Grinch when you’re here. We dare you.
