One Day in Amsterdam

The race is on. You have one day in Amsterdam, and here’s how you should spend it:

Grab a coffee and go. Book a canal cruise and explore by water on some of the 165 canals that intersect the city.

Tour the Anne Frank house and climb the stairs behind the bookshelf to the secret annex.

Explore Jordaan, the oldest and most quintessential Dutch neighborhood in the city. Complete with winding, narrow streets, it’s easy to get lost and fall in love with The Netherlands.

Lunch stop—try some traditional Dutch street food including fries with flavored mayo, Stroopwafel cookies and all the cheese. When in the Netherlands, eat like the Dutch.

Rent a bike and traverse the city like a local. Explore the greenery of Vondelpark neighborhood. Beware of other bikers, they don’t take kindly to n00bz.

Ride over to the Rijksmuseum and nab a quick selfie in front of the famous IAMstermdam sign.

You’ve worked hard today. Time for a drink! Visit a bruine kroeg, or brown cafe, and grab a beer. These pubs are characterized by their dark wood interiors and cozy atmosphere.

Grab dinner in the Leidseplein area. This is a hub for cafes, restaurants and nightlife.

Hit the town! Amsterdam is a party city, so take a stroll and stumble into any of the many bars and clubs that come alive at night.
