For quite a few years now, Greece and Turkey have been at the top of my bucket list of places to go and I was determined to cross both of these off the list in 2014. I chose the Greek Isles tour and elected to extend my trip (we call this special travel) to Istanbul – best decision I could have made.

The option to extend your trip is growing increasingly popular as travelers are learning to build their dream itinerary around an EFCB tour. On my Greek Isles tour alone, I’ve had people do the Spain, France, and Italy tour back-to-back with our Greek Isles tour (genius!). There were others who did a trip to Rome before the tour or a stayed behind in Barcelona. This option allows you to select a tour and build a trip around it through ECFB. Here are some popular examples we’ve seen recently:
Ultimate Europe + London
Dublin + London, Paris & Rome
The Greek Islands + Barcelona
Amsterdam + Grand Tour of Ireland
In my case, I selected the Greek Isles tour and told EFCB that I would be staying behind in Istanbul for five days. EFCB then booked my flight to Athens to start the tour and then out of Istanbul back to the US. I had to make my own arrangements when it came to accommodations and getting to Istanbul, but it was nice knowing that my flights to and from the US were all set.

Things to remember:
- You are responsible for getting yourself from the last destination of the tour to the next destination. You are also responsible for accommodations once your tour ends.
- You can request special travel until 99 days prior to tour departure. If you enroll on a trip with less than 99 days prior to departure, you will need to request the special travel at the time you enroll.
- You can request to extend your trip right when you enroll or you can request it later in your online account.
